Greetings, and welcome to Secrets from Japan and Beyond, an exploration of Japan (with the occasional detour farther afield) that combines research, memory, and observation into stories of place.
I am Sneha Nagesh, a writer based in Osaka, Japan. I have been learning the Japanese language for several years and am JLPT N1 certified. I conduct research for the articles I publish in Japanese and English. I’ve lived and worked in India and the UK, and I’ve called Japan home since 2019.
The themes I explore in my essays tend to centre around slow, contemplative travel, daily urban life, and the green spaces that bind cities to nature.
It would give me no greater joy than if the essays on this site provide a tiny bit of inspiration, for your own travels at home or afar.
