Thank you for your comment! You are very right...to be honest, I haven't been to Izumo jinja yet (very high on the list and I hope to correct it soon!) perhaps I will reconsider after I have been :)
It is such a pleasure to read your posts. You take great care in crafting them and I am lucky to have found them. Thank you. I have added the shrine to my Japan list.
A resident of Izumo might take offense at Ise being “the most important” shrine :)
Izumo Taisha is rebuilt every 60 years with the last one finishing around 2013 so there’s going to be quite a wait for the next one

I wrote about Izumo Taisha at the beginning of the year - https://ombreolivier.substack.com/p/enmusubi-life
As I wrote in that post now (November) is one of the most popular times to visit as according to the myths all the Kami in Japan are here for a party.
I’ll probably take about 50% of that post and recycle it onto my other Japan travel substack (https://lessknownjapan.substack.com/ )
Thank you for sharing! 🙏
I loved going here two years ago.
Thank you for your comment! Isn’t it just a wonderful place? I would love to go back again someday!

Thank you for taking the time to write a very kind comment. It means a lot to me! I hope you get to visit this shrine one day! 😊
