Beautiful piece. I’ve never given much consideration to moss before, but reading your points has made me reconsider my opinion on them somewhat—or rather, my lack of any opinion at all of them.
Thank you for your kind comment, I am glad! To be honest, I reconsidered my opinions about moss or lack of them as you say only while researching this piece ! 😊
I love moss. So fascinating. Yes you have to take the time to really look closely and understand how unique it is. When I am hiking and find a nice patch I always have to stop and take a closer look. And a gentle pet.
Thank you for this fascinating post. In November 2018 we visited Hakuryuen garden below An’yoji Temple in Ninose, Kyoto, renowned for its mosses. We had to reserve places as only 100 visitors a day were allowed and it cost ¥4,000 each - the most expensive garden we had ever visited in Japan. There were strict instructions not to walk on the mosses which were indeed quite beautiful and we have wonderful photographs as mementos.
What a wonderful memory, thank you for sharing! I've heard about Hakuryuen but never managed to visit it. I used live quite close and often went running in the area. The neighbourhood the garden in is full of these gems, and many are free to visit but entry fees definitely give access to secret, hidden places.

Thank you for your lovely comment. I've only started to look closely recently and my world opened up!
